day 8/9 "10,000 lakes?"

Michael, Christopher and I

Karli inside the Walker Museum Greenhouse

Kristina and her pup Cairo at their apartment in Minneapolis

Karli and I left Detroit on Tuesday and stopped in Ann Arbor on our way to Milwaukee. I got to see the dance theater mom used to run and even the cute house mom and dad used to live in back in the day! We met up with Karli's Skidmore buddy, Phred, who gave us a tour of the Law School at the University of Michigan. Very fancy! We drove around Lake Michigan and past Chicago where we got stuck in horrible traffic. Illinois is full of tolls. We got into Milwaukee on the verge of a storm, the sky was green which we later learned is a sign of a tornado!!! We left Milwaukee the next morning and drove all day to Minneapolis. This city is great! We had a wonderful Indian curry dinner at Namaste, the restaurant Karli's friend Kristina works at. We had a fabulous day yesterday walking and driving all over the city visiting schools, the Walker Museum with the famous sculpture garden, and then meeting up with my mom's dance friends from Ann Arbor! Christopher and Michael took Karli and I out for an amazing northern Italian dinner where we filled up on rissoto, cannolis, and conversation! Thank you guys for a really nice time! Wow, everyone in Minneapolis was really nice to us. Before we left this morning we made sure to see a few of the 10,000 lakes in Minnesota then headed out toward South Dakota. So many corn fields!!!! South Dakota has drive through liquor stores? Crazy. We are getting a good night's sleep tonight so we are all rested for our visit to the Corn Palace and the Badlands tomorrow!
