Organic Farming

This summer I moved to western New York to work on an organic farm that my dad started last year. It exists on property that my grandparents own and is only about half an acre in size. This is my first real farming experience but I've always been in love with the land and the sun so it only seems natural to grow and manage a large garden. Being the first year of major crop production we've had a lot of garden issues. Non stop weeding being the most pressing, but also vegetable eating beetles and slugs. We have kept up though and were able to stop the weeds from completely choking out the little sprouts. Now we are coming into high season with beautiful looking and tasting broccoli, carrots, heirloom tomatoes, zucchini, potatoes, onions and more beans and peas than we know what to do with!
